Volunteering Tasks
We’re very grateful for all the hard work that has been put in by volunteers so far in helping to clean and clear The Ivy. However, we’ve now reached a point where the only work that can be done before our planning application is approved needs to be carried out by qualified specialists—such as the electrical and plumbing improvements the building needs.
So for the time being there aren’t tasks that will be feasible for volunteers to do and, as a result, the Management Committee has decided to suspend the Saturday morning sessions—for the time being. Rest assured, this is only a temporary measure—we will need volunteers again in later phases of the project and we’ll keep everybody up to date with that through this site and the Friends of The Ivy WhatsApp group.
Reviving The Ivy will require the support of volunteers to take on many of the refurbishment tasks. Below are the specific activities we need help with. If you are able to assist by volunteering your time, please contact volunteering co-ordinator Dave Mort detailing which tasks and dates you can help with. Click on each task headline below to find out more details of how you can help.
Please note that all volunteers will need to have read and signed our Health and Safety policy before being allowed on site.
Please ensure you wear suitable clothing including stout footwear. Most tasks will require PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) to be worn when on site, for your safety and that of other volunteers—applicable PPE are shown within the details of each task. Friends of The Ivy has a supply of PPE that you can borrow when working at The Ivy (with the exception of steel toecapped shoes/boots which you will need to provide yourself if the task requires them).
