Friends of The Ivy

The share scheme opens on 22 September to allow you to purchase community shares.

We are holding two launch meetings this Saturday (20 September) in Heddington Village Hall.
Places at each meeting are limited, so please book now.

The Ivy Inn in Heddington, Wiltshire, has been put up for sale by its current owners Wadworth Brewery. Friends of The Ivy is a Community Benefit Society that has been formed to try and buy the pub on behalf of the village and run it for the benefit of the community.

You will soon be able to invest in the Friends of The Ivy Community Benefit Society. Shares will cost £1 each and the minimum investment per person is 100 shares (£100). To make sure you get the full details of the community share offer when it is launched on 22 September, please request the share prospectus now; this document is available now and explains how community shares work and how you can make your investment. If you have previously registered to receive the prospectus, this will be emailed to you.

The full business plan is also now available.

If you would like to follow progress, please sign up to stay updated. We are also always looking for volunteers to help with fundraising, so if you are able or if you would like more information then please get in touch via our contact form

Our Vision: The Ivy—A Community Hub

As a community-run business, we will expand on the pub’s traditional role and provide a space for a wider range of activities and services to meet the needs of Heddington and Stockley residents. In addition to remaining a pub, The Ivy would also become a local café!

Our aim is to secure The Ivy as central feature of the village community, not only as a benefit to our community but also as a provider of hospitality and enjoyment to a much wider range of people who already visit the area and who will be attracted by what we intend to offer.

We are convinced that The Ivy will be a place for social gathering, cultural activities and a place for people to meet, exchange information and enjoy each other’s company. A good pub and community hub – which is what we envisage The Ivy will be – is about the diversity of the people who use it, a place for friendships to be forged, and provide an environment in which local societies and clubs can meet and thrive.

Our survey shows us that The Ivy could be a very important venue for entertainment, and the success of our Popup pubs over the last year has proven that this vital community asset must be preserved.

Thank You to Our Partner Organisations

We are honoured by the amount of support we have received so far for the Save The Ivy campaign. In addition to the immense support from residents, we have received support from several organisations whose logos are displayed below.
