Saturday 6 June—Volunteering Tasks

This is a provisional date, weather permitting. We will add the anticipated task list below nearer the time. Please let us know if you are available to help on this date.

We’re back to work at The Ivy and would love your help.

There’s a wide range of jobs to tackle throughout the day, listed below, and the more hands we have, the more we’ll be able to get done. If you’re able to bring along any of the items listed under required materials, that would be hugely appreciated.

Removal of wallpaper

From back room walls, along with removal of Rawl plugs, screws and staples etc. from walls and woodwork

Required tools/materials

Wallpaper stripper, screwdrivers, pliers, wire snips and patience: this second layer of wallpaper has been painted over!

Hi Viz, Hard Hat, Gloves, Goggles

Removal of staples

From upstairs floorboards.

Required tools/materials

Wallpaper stripper, screwdrivers, pliers, wire snips and patience—knee pads would also be an advantage.

Removal of specific wall panelling

In the back room.

Required tools/materials

Standard Safety equipment, screwdriver, chisel, hammer or mallet.

Removal of coving

Note: working from stepladder, safety precautions required.

Required tools/materials

Wallpaper stripper tool to prise off from wall.

Removal and discarding of carpet

From dartboard area of bar.

Screwdrivers.

Removal of fireplace flue register plate

Note: THREE person job if able.

Required tools/materials

Timings

9:00am: If you have not previously read, understood and signed the Friends of The Ivy Health and Safety policy, please arrive for the Health and Safety briefing at 9:00am.

9:30am: Arrive at the main site entrance at The Ivy to be signed in and granted access.

PPE Requirements

You will be required to wear the following personal protective equipment for these tasks. Any items in bold you will need to provide yourself, all other items will be provided by Friends of The Ivy Limited:

  • Hi-Viz jacket
  • Safety Helmet
  • Stout footwear

PLEASE NOTE:

Caution when moving outside, digging machinery may be in action.
