General Patton in Heddington during WWII

Interview with Gerald ‘Duffy’ Brown who is 90 years old and has lived in Heddington all his life. General Patton stayed at his house during the planning of D-Day and enjoyed visiting ‘The Ivy’ pub with the troops.

The Ivy is under threat of permanent closure as it has been put up for sale by the current owners Wadworth brewery. You can help save this historically-significant pub for future generations by buying shares to help Friends of The Ivy Limited buy and run it as a not-for-profit community pub and café.
